Fresno - San Joaquin Chapter
Chapter News & Announcements
  • On September 28th and 29th -8 women from our club  represented  our Fresno Chapter in Sparks NV for the annual Western Division Qualifier. Our team battled the elements in Reno and ended up in 7th place. All returned home with smiles on our faces knowing we played well and have golf weather stories to tell our friends. Jodi Asher and Pat Thomason were pelted with gusty wind and driving rain. They returned to the club house as it started to snow. Fresno golf is looking better all the time.
  • With the direction of Marlene Ray our first golf classic was a great success. 76 players enjoyed good golf and fellowship at Eagle Springs. The men , women and mixed teams all felt like winners. The staff at Eagle Springs provided great food for breakfast and lunch after a fun day of scramble golf. Through donations of our community, tee sponsors and fun games we were able to raise over $2800 for local woman's golf community. We intended on benefiting Fresno City College Women's program however 2 days before the tourney we were advised that they would not have a women's team this year. We plan on supporting FCC when they have another women's team.
  • Captain Linda promised to return the Cal Cup trophy to Fresno and her team reclaimed the title for another year.
The team consisted of Jodie Asher, Jasmine Maestas, Gwen Deeter, Denice Chambers, Julie Howe, Bobbi Hanada, Linda Steiner, Cindy Grazier, Marlene Ray, Joyce Crane, Deb Coe, and Maureen Cook.
Everyone had a great time and we were thrilled to return the trophy to Fresno.
  • Patti Liscio our own chapter member and LPGA teaching professional has a girls golf club for youth. She is looking for some of our members to assist her in teaching these young girls how to play golf and be mentors for  them. Call Patti at (559) 266-3015 if you can assist her.
  • It was so good to start the season with the kickoff dinner highlighting all the new leagues, future clinics, playdays and tournaments we will get participate in this year. Linda Steinert our Cal Cup Captain displayed the 2018 Trophy the Fresno chapter won last year. . Linda is leading our team this year in Sacramento  and is promising to return this trophy back to Fresno.
Part of our chapters mission is to give back to our community. Last night all our members brought a teddy bear to give to the Clovis Police Department for children who are experiencing a traumatic event. Chris Taliaferro from the Clovis PD explained how all of their police officers carry these bears in their squad cars and it helps these children cope by having something to hold while they are in crisis. Chris said, " It is amazing how much these soft bears help these children."
Special thanks to Nanci Mathers, Jodi Asher, Denice Chambers for organizing the event. Also thanks to Kathy Gannon and Ann Hamilton for the flower arrangements. And thanks to all the women who attended -making sure we have a bright season ahead.
