Whether it's 15 minutes a week, an hour once a month or an event once a year, volunteers are the backbone of LPGA Amateur Golf Association. Volunteering also connects you to other members—expanding your golf network. Contact Sherri Elliott, President, with your questions, a description of your expertise or interest, and how much time you have to give. Below are some of the ways you can help our chapter be it's best!
KICKOFF EVENT PARTY: Help with registration, staff a table for a committee, or help set up the room.
CHAPTER CHAMPIONSHIP and SCRAMBLE CHAMPIONSHIP: Each year, we host an individual Championship Tournament, and a separate Scramble Championship at local courses. You could help with registration, be a “pace of play” monitor on the course, take photos of players on the course, hand out snacks... it's a fun way to participate.
SPONSORSHIP: Reach out to targeted local businesses to gain support or maintain a current relationship on behalf of the chapter.EDUCATION: Reach out to golf professionals, staffing education events.
GOLF EVENTS: Assist our Golf Events Director at one or more golf events during the year by notifying course of number of players, developing/distributing pairings, staffing registration and giving awards if appropriate.
HANDICAP: Reach out to members without handicaps, answer member questions, assist in handicap education.
LEADERSHIP: Help identify members for Board and other volunteer positions.
LEAGUES: Help with Girlfriend Golf (weekday 9-hole leagues held from March - October), match play, Lone Star Cup and other events.
MEMBERSHIP: Make outreach calls to new members; distribute membership flyers to golf courses and at events, make follow-up calls to members whose membership is expiring.
SOCIAL: Contribute ideas, do outreach to venues, handle registration table at social event, greet members, have fun!
