Happy Golfing - Take Aways from an LPGA Amateurs Facebook Live Event

  • There are only 2 things that you can control on the golf course.  1) your outfit and 2) your attitude
  • If you hit a bad shot, you need to learn to leave it behind.
  • Be your own cheerleader. You'd never say anything negative to one of your playing partners, so don't say anything negative to yourself.
  • A good book that helps you focus on the mental side of your game is: Be a Player and Every shot must have a purpose both by Lynn Marriott and Pia Nilsson.
  • There are two clubs in your bag that you need to love.  Your putter and your driver.
  • You need to be very comfortable with your putter. Most women play wth putters that are too long. Never accept a hand me down putter unless you find that you just love it. Be picky. Find one that fits you.
  • 60% of your practice time should be spent around the green

Online USGA Rules Tools

The USGA has the following new online tools for learning the Rules of Golf:

A Short Course on the Rules,” is a new, regular content series. Each piece will feature a specific topic highlighted by a short video and an 18-question quiz to test your knowledge (made up of a “front nine” of easier questions and a “back nine” of harder questions). Detailed “thoughts on the round” will be released later, which will include answers to the quiz questions as well as broader topic discussions based around each question.

The first edition of the Short Course is about playing the course as you find it. Watch the video, take the short course quiz, and opt-in to join the leaderboard for the chance to be featured with the top scorers.

The Virtual Rules School, a comprehensive video series covering the Rules of Golf using pictures, animations and videos to help bring the Rules to life – and allowing you to learn at your own pace in the comfort of your own home, or on the go.

Lastly, individuals can join the USGA Facebook Rules of Golf Group for a friendly discussion on the rules of golf.
