The First Coast, FL chapter of the Ladies Professional Golf Association was chartered in 1995 as part of The Executive Women's Golf League. From the first meeting of 25 women, our local chapter has experienced a real passion for the organization and currently has over 100 members. Charter members who remain active today include Amy Hooe and Margaret Downey.
In 2018 the EWGA became a part of the Ladies Professional Golf Association and was rebranded as the LPGA Amateur Golf Association. Our chapter also changed its name from the Jacksonville Chapter to the First Coast, FL Chapter to more accurately reflect the geographic area of our membership.
The First Coast Chapter provides an environment that encourages women to learn to play and enjoy the game of golf. The Chapter offers members numerous opportunities to learn the basics of the game through player development programs at local golf courses, mentoring for novice players, and rules seminars. In recent years the Chapter has sponsored more than 50 events and activities annually for members and their guests. While many of these offerings are strictly golf-related (monthly tournaments, weekly leagues, etc.), there are also many opportunities for both business and social networking. The Chapter has earned the coveted Chapter of Excellence Award several times over the years as recognition of the quality and variety of services provided to its members.
The First Coast Chapter also proudly supports both local and national charities. Our local LPGA-USGA Girls Golf site has received support through fundraising efforts and mentorship of young girls.
The First Coast Chapter of the LPGA Amateur Golf Association is a volunteer managed organization. It is an excellent avenue for meeting new friends, entertaining clients and guests, and learning a game that one truly can play for a lifetime. We provide a venue for women of all skill levels to get together to have fun. The First Coast Chapter is where great friendships are made.
