  • In an effort to show appreciation for our long time donors and since we expect our costs to be substantially lower than previous years, the board has decided to donate back the proceeds of the silent auction to our sponsors. Many have continued their spirit of generosity and have asked us to instead use that money to donate to a Westchester charity on the front lines of this pandemic. We have chosen The First Responders Fund that was created to assist COVID-19 health care workers and first responders.  If you'd like to add to this donation, please click here, https://www.healthresearch.org/donation-form/.

  • LPGA Amateurs Westchester is adjusting to the current circumstances that we are all facing.  Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, New York State has enacted measures to restrict our movements to only essential errands.  In addition, while Westchester County golf courses are still open, many other golf courses are currently closed and will not decide when to open until at least April 1st.  As a result of this and the uncertainty of when measures will be relaxed, we have decided to postpone Leagues Registration.

The Chapter Board will meet on April 6th and by then, we hope to have more information about what activities will be allowed.  We will make a decision about leagues registration at that time.

While we are preparing for 'the worst' we are hoping for the best.  We will keep our members informed of any changes and decisions made, as they become available.

  • Our Westchester Chapter Board has made the decision to postpone our Tee-Off Brunch.  Instead, we will have a virtual Tee-Off with an ONLINE Silent Auction this year, with bidding to conclude on March 29.   We have some fantastic auction items this year and we hope you will all participate in the bidding!

The price will be calculated based on the expiration date of December 31, 2020. You will receive a reminder within 30 days of your expiration date. • The following are the important highlights of the new World Handicap System which became effective on 1/1/2020:

    i) Post score on the day of play – this is now important as scores submitted for a particular course will be considered for a Playing Condition Calculation adjustment. Handicap Index revisions will be released daily.

ii) Enter all scores played under an acceptable format – except for Foursomes (alternating shots) or Captain’s Choice most other formats are considered acceptable, including stroke play, match play and four ball.

iii) Maximum Adjusted Score for handicapping purposes – scores must be adjusted (for handicapping purposes only) by using ‘Net Double Bogey’ as the maximum score (ESC no longer exists). This is relatively easy if you are an 18 or 36 handicap where you get 1 or 2 strokes per hole, but it becomes increasingly difficult for other handicaps. It is therefore recommended that you enter scores using the Hole by Hole method and let the computer make the necessary adjustments.

iv) Hole not started – in a situation where you have played 14 holes but are not able to finish e.g. darkness or weather etc., you are required to enter a ‘Net Par’ for the holes not completed. If more than 9 but less that 14 – enter a 9-hole score.

    v) Hole started but not completed – e.g. partner best ball or team event where your score cannot better a team member – required to record ‘Most Likely Score’ (there are guidelines to determine your most likely score).

    Course Handicap Calculation:

Course Handicap = Handicap Index x (Slope Rating ÷ 113) + Course Rating – Par

    Handicap Index Calculation:

Handicap Index = (113 ÷ Slope Rating) x (Adjusted Gross Score – Course Rating)

Note: this formula will be used following a round to calculate your score differential, which will form your score history using the average of the best 8 out of 20 scores. Where applicable the Playing Course Condition adjustment will be applied to the result.

  • LPGA Amateurs Scramble Open will be held at Pinehurst this year on May 22-23, 2020.

Based on member interest, the 2020 Scramble Open will include both Gross & Net winners in each flight. The overall winner will remain the Low Net team. As before, flights will be determined by the composition of the field.
We are excited about expanding opportunities to win in the Scramble Open!
  • The 2020 LPGA Amateurs Team Stableford event will be held on April 17-18, 2020 at Sewailo Golf Club at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, AZ. The format will be a two-woman team net best ball Stableford, which is limited to players with a Handicap Index of 24.0-42.0.
