  • CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2025 GTA CHAPTER CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS!

Our annual Chapter Championship took place on Sunday September 7th at Silver Lakes Golf and Country club.  Mother Nature did her best to throw players off their game by bringing repeated periods of showers, followed by sunshine, followed by heavy rain,  sunshine, and…rain, but to no avail.  Our group of competitors and recreational golfers shook off the elements and had a great day of fun on the course.

This year, 26 women competed in 3 Flights and 8 golfers joined for a recreational round of golf. Congratulations to all competitors and especially those first timers who stepped up to test their skills and knowledge in their first competition.

We want to send a special thank you to our Competitive Golf Events Committee members Paula M, Donna B, Susan B, and Bev H  whose hard work in the planning and execution made the day so successful. Many thanks also go to volunteers Mary Ann M, Karen S, Michele I, Mary C, and Toni P for their help with registration, first tee starter, on-course pace of play, scoring and photography. Visit this link to view some pictures from the day.

Congratulations to our winners! Each champion received a gift certificate, and winners of Gross and Low Net were awarded a specially designed embroidered LPGA Amateurs headcover. A draw was also held for the recreational players.

  • Maintain the Fun for All – The Importance of On-Course Pace of Play

We are thrilled to see so many of our members, new and experienced, enjoying our Events and Leagues. It’s important for all of us to be mindful of Pace of Play as the GTA courses are in such demand.

In general, you should always be able to see the group ahead of you – if the hole is open, you are out of position.

Some tips to help maintain Pace:

    • Except if playing Match Play, play “ready golf” if it is safe to do so. For example, hit your shot if your partner is assessing their options, or raking a bunker.
    • Hit your shot before helping a partner search for a lost ball.
    • Consider letting the shorter hitters hit first off the tee if the longer hitters have to wait.
    • Leave your cart or golf bag in a safe location to allow for quick and efficient movement forward (don’t walk back!).
    • If you are struggling and have reached your maximum allowable strokes, pick up your ball and move on – there’s always another hole waiting somewhere.
    • If your foursome cannot maintain its position, consider letting the group behind play through.
    • Mark your scorecard when you reach the next tee, not by the green.

We have each been a golf-newbie at some point. We encourage our more experienced members to help mentor those who are new to the game. For further education on Pace of Play, visit the R&A Rules of Golf here.
