Your Chapter Needs You!

Seeking a CAL Cup Captain - Feb. 13, 2025

The Chapter needs a Cal Cup captain (or co-captains) for the August 2025 Cal Cup competition in the Sacramento area. The Chapter plans to send and support a 12-person team to this year’s event.

Cal Cup is modeled after the LPGA’s Solheim Cup. On the first day of competition, 2-person teams compete in match play; on the second day, the competition is individual match play.

Cal Cup captains:

• stay in touch with the Cal Cup organizing team

• help recruit players for the Chapter’s 12-person team (plus 2 alternates)

• provide information to the team including cost, registration, hotel recommendations, match-play information, etc.

• set up the 2-person teams for the first day of play

• propose financial support to the Chapter’s Board and manage those funds.

To volunteer to be the captain or co-captain, please contact Chapter President Sylvia Fath at: sylviamf@outlook.com.

Membership Incentives - New Members

Your Palm Springs/Desert Cities LPGA Amateur board is working for you!  The Chapter is giving back to members in several ways:

  1. The Chapter covers the online portion of registration fees and does not add these fees to the cost of your golf registration. Previously these had been added (about $5 per registration).
  2. The Golf Events Chair holds a drawing for member participants at every event for a $35-off coupon for a future PS/DC chapter golf event.
  3. The Chapter does not charge an entry fee for the prizes awarded after golf events. Players are automatically "in" the game.
  4. We are holding free or low-cost clinics for members.
  5. We  support the annual CAL Cup team. Examples of past support: buying the team shirts and paying for a celebratory dinner after the event.
  6. PGA Teaching Professional Dave Curtis offers Chapter members a discount on private golf lessons.  Contact him at: drcurtis@pga.com.
  7. LPGA Teaching Professional Susan Briske offers Chapter members a discount on private golf lessons. Contact her at: pros2go@gmail.com.
Please come and join your golf buddies for some fun at our upcoming events!
