Refund Policy

Due to an increase in processing fees and the high number of late cancellations we experienced in the past, we have instituted a new refund policy.

  • If you cancel your event registration prior to the published closing date, there will be a $5 processing fee deducted from your refund.
  • If you cancel after the closing date, there will be no refund as we still have to cover our commitment to the golf course. (You are welcome to find a sub to take your place.)

Thank you for your understanding.

LPGA Amateur Golf Association Rhode Island Golf Leagues

Our mission is to provide a supportive and welcoming atmosphere for all golfers.
Our leagues draw players from all skill levels.
The following rules of play are intended to help make your LPGA Amateur Golf Association Rhode Island experience a wonderful one.

PACE OF PLAY

  • Plan your next shot while walking towards your ball or while others are playing.
  • Be ready to hit when it is your turn.
  • Walk briskly between shots.
  • Walk directly to your ball; only follow others if assisting in looking for a lost ball
  • If riding, take several clubs with you to your ball so you do not need to walk back to your cart.
  • Take only one practice swing.
  • Play a provisional ball if you think your original may be out of play.  Be sure to announce your intention to do so.
  • Leave your clubs/cart on the side of the putting green closest to the next tee.
  • Exit the putting green promptly after holing out.

 ETIQUETTE

  • Be aware of the specific rules at the course you are playing (cell phones, dress code, local rules)
  • Put an identification mark on your ball and know what you are playing
  • Always play without delay and keep up with the group in front.
  • Invite faster groups to play through.
  • Do not move or talk near a player about to make a stroke.
  • Don’t step on another player’s line of putt.
  • Don’t play until the group in front of you is out of the way.
  • Shout a warning if your ball might hit someone – “FORE”
  • Repair divot holes and ball marks. Smooth footprints in the bunkers.
  • Leave the course in the condition you would like to find it.

 ORDER OF PLAY

  • Play “READY GOLF”. Hit the ball when you are ready as long as you can safely do so.  Do not focus on who has the honors to hit first.

League Policies for Members

Leagues are at the heart of what makes the LPGA Amateurs Rhode Island Chapter a vibrant and supportive golf community. Leagues give members a chance to play regularly and get to know fellow chapter members.

The following policies are designed to keep the leagues running smoothly and make them enjoyable for everyone.

 Member Status
Participation in all chapter-sponsored leagues is limited to current LPGA Amateurs members who are also members of the Rhode Island Chapter in good standing. Annual dues must be paid in full before member can access the Golf Genius registration system.

 Registration Priority
League registration is on a first-come, first-served basis only through the official chapter registration platform.

If capacity is limited, members who played in the prior season may receive early registration access, as determined by the League Captain or Chapter Board. This early registration period is limited to a maximum of two weeks; at which point registration will open to the general membership.

  • Substitutes do not qualify as returning league members.
  • Any open spots in capacity-limited leagues will be offered to the full membership during open registration; any other system to fill the spots must be approved by the Board and communicated to the membership.

 Commitment
League registration represents a commitment to participate for the entire season. Members are expected to play regularly or communicate promptly if unable to attend.

League Fee Structure
Each league will determine the fee prior to registration, and include details of what is/is not covered (greens fees, carts, etc.)

Payment Method

  • Payments must be made through the chapter’s approved registration system (Golf Genius).
  • Payments are due at the time of registration. A registration is not confirmed until payment is received.
  • Non-Payment
Registrations not paid by the deadline may be cancelled and the spot offered to another member.

Refunds & Cancellations

League Fee Refund Policy

  • League fees are non-refundable once registration closes.
  • If a member withdraws before the registration deadline, a refund (less any processing fees) may be issued.

Weather-Related Cancellations

  • If a league play date is cancelled due to weather or course closure, the league will follow the host course’s raincheck or reschedule policy.
  • If a makeup date cannot be arranged, no refund will be issued unless the course issues a credit directly to players.

Member Withdrawal / Missed Rounds

  • Members who miss play dates for personal reasons (vacation, illness, etc.) are not eligible for a refund or credit. Members may find a sub, and arrange payment of greens fees directly with the sub.
  • Members who must withdraw from a league (due to injury or other) are not eligible for refund or credit.
    • Members maintain their place as “member” of the league for one season due to injury. If the member misses more than one season, they are no longer considered a returning member, unless approved by the Board.
    • Members who withdraw may fill their space with a sub, and arrange payment of greens fees directly with the sub
  • Substitutes are permitted from the published Chapter substitute list only. Substitutes register for the sub list via Golf Genius and pay a small registration fee.
  • If a substitute player takes the place of member mid-season, they are considered a long-term sub and not a member of the league for the purposes of early registration for the next season.

League Cancellation
If the chapter must cancel a full season prior to the start of play, members will receive a refund of greens fees.

League Play & Conduct Rules

 Scheduling & Attendance

  • Season schedules will be published before the first play date.
  • Members should arrive at least 20 minutes prior to their scheduled tee time.
  • Repeated no-shows or late cancellations may result in removal from the league without refund.

Format of Play
Each league may specify its format (stroke play, scramble, match play, points system, etc.).

Pace of Play & Etiquette
All members must maintain proper pace of play, adhere to golf etiquette, and show courtesy to fellow players, course staff, and volunteers. Any lost items found on the course believed to belong to a league player should be turned in to the league captain.

Code of Conduct
Members are expected to uphold the LPGA Amateurs Code of Conduct at all times. Unsportsmanlike behavior, harassment, or violation of league rules may result in suspension or termination of participation.

Disputes & Decisions
The League Captain and Events Director (Board member) will review any disputes, rules questions, or disciplinary matters. Their decisions are final.

Communications & Responsibilities

 League Information
All league information—including weekly tee times, results, cancellations, and standings—will be communicated via email or text using the designated online platform (Golf Genius) or the method announced by the League Captain.

 Member Contact Info
Members are responsible for maintaining current contact info in the registration system.

 Weather Decisions
League Captains will make cancellation decisions in concert with the course, based on course conditions and forecast. Updates will be provided by email and/or text at least two hours before the scheduled start time whenever possible.

Liability, Media, and Policy Administration

Waiver of Liability
By registering, members acknowledge and accept the inherent risks of golf and release the LPGA Amateurs, its Rhode Island Chapter, officers, volunteers, and host facilities from all liability for injury, loss, or damage.

Media & Photography
Participation constitutes consent for the chapter to use photographs, video, or names of participants for promotional or informational purposes.

Policy Revisions

These policies may be updated at any time by the Chapter Board. Members will be notified of any revisions prior to the start of a new season.

League Captain Policies & Procedures

The following outlines the responsibilities of our wonderful League Captains. Thank you for the time and energy you bring to every round! Your leadership makes our chapter stronger and our leagues more fun for everyone.

 Responsibilities

League Captains are responsible for managing weekly play and for maintaining a healthy relationship with the host golf course.

An organizational meeting for League Captains, led by the Events Director, is held in the off-season, usually in February. Registration dates and any policy updates will be discussed at this meeting. The Events Director will also set up your league registration in Golf Genius and is your point of contact for all league questions.

 Golf Course

The League Captain is responsible for managing the annual contract with the course. This includes negotiating greens fees, deciding what is included (carts, etc.), and selecting playing dates and tee times.

 Contracts

The League Captain should initiate the contract with the course. For existing leagues, this process begins as you near the end of the season, typically in September (e.g., in the 2026 season, you should express your interest for 2027 and request a contract).

Contracts must be sent to the Board for approval before sending to the course.

 League Fees & Payments

  • The League Captain determines the player registration fee using this formula:

Player Registration Fee = (number of weeks x greens fees) + Chapter admin fee

  • The Chapter admin fee for each season will be communicated by the Events Director. Please confirm the fee before communicating costs to members.

  • If you are including an additional event fee (for end of season gathering, etc.) in the registration fee, please add $1 per player to cover the cost of processing (i.e., for a $20 event fee, collect $21).
    • At the end of the season, request the check from the Treasurer.

      Course Payment

Request for course payment is made through the Treasurer. Please confirm that the treasurer has a copy of the contract with the course address and contact person, and the total payment needed. Payment to the course can be made by check or ACH.

       League Size

The size of the league is determined by the League Captain and the available tee times at the course. See the general league policies for additional information on league management.

       League Format

Each league may define its own format (stroke play, match play, etc.).

League Captains are encouraged to clearly outline their format and expectations so members can easily choose the league that best matches their playing style and goals. Here is a general example:

      •  Format: This league uses a Match Play format. Weekly head-to-head 9-hole matches are played using handicaps to level the field. Players earn points for wins, ties, and participation, with standings tracked throughout the season and playoffs at the end.

Skill Level: Ideal for golfers with some competitive experience who enjoy strategy, consistency, and the challenge of one-on-one play. A valid handicap index is required.

         Golf Genius

If desired, the League Captain may be granted access to their league portal in Golf Genius in order to facilitate league management and scoring.

  • At the organizational meeting, let the Events Director know that you would like access to your league in Golf Genius.
    • You will be granted “tour manager” status, which means you can access some functionality for your league, including scorecards, managing pairings, and communicating with league members via email or text.
    • Golf Genius instruction is self-directed using videos and written guides. There is also a robust live help feature. Formal training through the Chapter is not guaranteed.
