Chapter News & Announcements
  • Great Weather, Great Courses, and a Fun Start to 2026

January golf has been treating us very well. While much of the country has been bundled up and dreaming of spring, we’ve been out enjoying classic Southern California winter golf—great weather, beautiful courses, and even better company.

We kicked off the year with fun events at Goose Creek and Los Serranos, and the energy has been fantastic. From crisp mornings to comfortable afternoon rounds, January delivered exactly what we love about winter golf here. Strong participation, lots of laughs, and that familiar mix of friendly competition and easy camaraderie made these events a great way to start the year.

It’s been especially nice to see both familiar faces and newer members out on the course, reconnecting after the holidays and setting the tone for a great golf season ahead. If January is any indication, 2026 is going to be a fun one.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to keep the momentum going off the course as well.

This is always a relaxed, social evening and a great way to connect midweek. Mark your calendar and plan to stop by—we’d love to see you there.

More golf, more events, and more chances to play together are coming up soon. Here’s to a great start to the year and an even better season ahead.

  • Holiday Cheer, Good Company Gift-Swap Fun

Our LPGA Orange County chapter closed out the year with a festive holiday get-together hosted by our President, Sandra. We gathered around the table for a potluck dinner, shared plenty of laughs and jokes, and enjoyed catching up with one another.

The gift exchange brought out some great golf-themed surprises and lots of smiles, and it was a perfect reminder of the strong sense of community in our chapter. It was a fun, relaxed evening filled with friendship, generosity, and a shared love of the game. A big thank you to Sandra for hosting and to everyone who joined in to make it such a great night.

  • OC Chapter Reclaims Cactus Cup!

Our Orange County Chapter proudly reclaimed the 2025 Cactus Cup against Palm Springs!  With 8 matches played, we battled through 2 All Square (tie) results, 2 losses, and 4 hard-fought wins to secure the trophy.  It was a beautiful and warm day at Goose Creek —a course that is always a challenge! But neither the heat nor the tricky layout could hold us back.

This year’s incredible team consisted of Sandra Bensworth, Jan Cenedella, Angie Charky, Janet Cleary, Debbie Dakouzlian, Mary Guerrero, Shelley Klick, Eileen Licerio, Colleen Marinelli, Margaret Miller, Mireya Moreno, Sumiko Perry, Maryalice Prescott, Michelle Sullivan, Elaine Thayer, and Gaye Thomson.  A special thank you to Janet, Eileen and Mary for organizing this fantastic event for our chapter.

Interested in playing next year?  We will be back in Palm Springs in 2026 to defend the Cup!

  • New Chapter Board of Directors -- Congrats to Maryalice Prescott and Welcome Mary Guerrero!

In our recently completed Chapter elections, Maryalice Prescott has been unanimously reelected to a second one-year term as President!

Also, please welcome Mary Guerrero as a new member of the board!  She will be heading our social media efforts.

Mary is a distinguished US Air Force Veteran and a seasoned technology expert with over two decades of experience. She has served as the IT Director for Special Olympics Southern California and is currently working at Microsoft.

Mary is a proud graduate of the PGA HOPE program, which ignited her passion for golf. Seeking camaraderie with fellow female golfers, she joined the LPGA Amateurs of Orange County. Mary is committed to supporting and advocating for both programs, sharing her positive experiences with fellow veterans and encouraging more women to take up the sport.

In addition to Mary and Maryalice, Janet Cleary and Laura Vossman are beginning second terms to complete the Board of Directors.  Sandra Bensworth is continuing as Treasurer but is serving a required one-year timeout from the Board in order to run as President next year.
