The R&A and the USGA have released the most recent edition of the Rules of Golf, effective January 2023. It's important to keep up on the latest changes, so to help us understand what's changed they have created an illustrated PDF outlining these changes. To review these 5 Key Changes, click here. They have also issued a chart for 2019 Rules to 2023 Rules Comparison, which can be found here.
Finally, for a nice article by Sr. Rules Officials Pete Scholz and Terry McEvilly of the Oregon Golf Association about these changes, click here.
LPGA Amateurs Central Oregon Chapter's generous members contributed toys and gifts for children of all ages at their Holiday Party held on Tuesday, December 6 at Walt Reilly's. Donations will be delivered to the annual Toys for Tots collection station and are then distributed throughout the area by local volunteers.
Thank you to everyone for getting into the spirit of giving!
As
you may be aware, the USGA informed LPGA Amateurs that they would
not accept handicaps from GolfNet after the end of this year. In other
words, the LPGA no longer will offer a free handicap benefit to you.
Members who have been using GolfNet have the opportunity to transfer their handicaps to GHIN (Golf Handicap Information Network). This is a service offered by the USGA to golf associations worldwide.
Since our Chapter does not have enough members
willing to sign up for a GHIN handicap to become an Affinity Member
Club, you will need to sign up through either your local golf club
league or the OGA.
Steps for setting up GHIN account for old and new members:
1. Go to https://oga.org
2. Click on Membership
3. Click on Adults
4. Click on Central Oregon
5. Click on $40 or $57 Membership
(you have a choice)
6. If you have been using GolfNet for your handicap then you already have a GHIN # so you would enter in your name and GHIN number (see image, upper left).
1. If you used GHIN in the past but it has been longer
than 2 years since you used it, your number was likely deactivated and
you will have to get a new number and start tracking your handicap from
scratch. Click on Create New Profile.
2. If you have never used GHIN or Golfnet
Click on Create New Profile.
During the summer I shared my hope to have “Course Coordinators - CC” that will help with our 2023 golf season.
Coordinators would be the lead for one or two courses. We have about 3-5 dates pinned for each course:
Ridge | CRR | Challenge | Quail Run | Back 9 | Greens | Meadow Lakes | Resort + Some Surprises!
Your willingness to serve is greatly appreciated.
• Book the tee times (around March or sooner).
• Confirm Best Fees
• Contact course with the number of players
• Have fun – create games or KP events etc. with prizes – or not - it is up to you!
• Bring along a Co-CC to help if you would like.
Contact me to become a CC in 2023...
Thanks to the ladies that expressed interest... Mary, Betty, Laura, Shari (N), Shari (H).
