What a fantastic day on the course! Our Halloween on the Green Outing at Avery Ranch was filled with fun, friendly competition, creative costumes, and wonderful camaraderie. We loved seeing so many familiar faces alongside our newest members, and you all truly outdid yourselves with your Halloween spirit! With a record-breaking 48 players, this was a turnout worth celebrating. 👻⛳

Twenty-five women gathered at Salt Traders for a heartfelt afternoon centered on "The Long Game" — a conversation about aging well, caregiving, and building financial confidence.

Events Co-Chair Terri Thomas opened the session by highlighting the LPGA Amateurs partnership and the organization's mission and spoke to the invaluable guidance and support Terri Hoffman has provided in financial management.

Guest speaker Cherie Simpson, PhD, APRN and board-certified clinical nurse specialist in Adult Health, shared practical resources and strategies for maintaining resilience as a caregiver. The conversation opened into a rich exchange of personal stories about caring for aging parents — candid, supportive, and deeply relatable.

Terri Hoffman closed the discussion with reflections on the importance of diversifying wealth. The afternoon also carried a special tribute: the conversation was lovingly dedicated to Anita Eilers, Terri's mother, who passed away in April 2026 after being cared for by Terri and her family since 2020. Terri wore pink in her honor — her mother's favorite color.

It was a joy to welcome new faces alongside familiar ones — recent chapter members and long-standing supporters alike. A huge thank-you to Terri for organizing this event and for her continued support of the LPGA Amateurs Austin Chapter.

What a day at Crystal Falls Golf Course! Thank you to Brad Wolfram, Tournament & Event Coordinator, for his coordination and for kicking off the event. Kudos to Cork & Barrel, for serving up our lunches and having name tags so no one had to remember what they ordered months ago.

We had a strong turnout — 28 ladies across 7 scramble teams — for a 9:30 AM shotgun start. We got a little cloud cover early on, but the day sure did warm up! It was wonderful seeing so many ladies dressed up for the occasion. A special shoutout to Annette, Susan, Peggy, and Lori, who truly outdid themselves with great outfits — we hope to see them return in costume for Halloween on the Green!

Introducing our new indoor simulator league - Birdie Baddies!  This is not just for new golfers but it is a perfect opportunity to get some help with your golf swing and play in a low stress environment, later in the evening, and in the AC.  This is a 6-session league and we will start a new session in the Fall. What an incredible day! The 2nd Annual Women's Open Championship at Morris Williams was a tremendous success, drawing an outstanding field of 48 players. It was especially exciting to welcome several non-members to the event — we hope to see you back on the course again soon!

Last week our Chapter President, Samantha Vaccaro, shared some time sensitive news about our Central League. If you missed this email please keep reading.

I am writing to share some very important changes to Central League that take effect this week. We will no longer be hosting Central League every weekend at the MUNY Courses. Please read this email in its entirety to understand why this change was made, what we will offer in its place and how to sign up to play. There is also very important reminder information on the chapter cancel policy that I highly encourage everyone to read.

We had a wonderful time joining the Butler Ladies Night League on a perfect Austin spring evening. There were 60+ women on the 9-hole par 3 course playing in groups of 4 to 6 people in a fun scramble competition. Everyone was gracious and excited to be out, some for the very first time trying a new sport, others just having moved to the city and wanting to meet new friends. The on-site burgers and beers were a delicious refreshment. 

A big thank you to GolfATX, William Murray and Austin Pretzel Company for donating the prizes for the evening and Birdie Girl Golf for sharing a discount at the event. 

What an incredible way to start the 2026 season! Our LPGA Amateurs Austin Chapter Kickoff Party @ the Driftwood Downtown was a tremendous success, and we are so grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. It was truly wonderful to see so many familiar faces — and even more exciting to welcome so many new members and prospects who have decided to take the plunge and join the association. We are absolutely thrilled to have you as part of our growing community!

The energy in the room was something special. It was wonderful to meet new supporters who are just discovering what our association is all about, and equally meaningful to reconnect with sponsors who continue to champion our mission. We love the rich diversity that defines our association, and events like this remind us of the strength and vibrancy that comes from bringing so many incredible people together.

A special highlight of the evening was getting to mingle with partners and spouses, and we hope you all felt right at home. Our members are at their best when surrounded by those who support them, and it was a joy to have so many of you at this event. We hope the venue exceeded expectations and added to the wonderful atmosphere of the night!

Lone Star Cup will be held in Albuquerque, NM at the Santa Ana Golf Club the weekend of May 28-30. This team event is similar to the Solheim Cup. Chapters from Albuquerque, Baton Rouge, Ft. Worth, Dallas, Denton, Denver, Houston, and San Antonio will participate. We encourage ladies with higher handicaps to try out as your extra strokes often give an advantage over lower handicap players. 

Tryouts will begin in February and practice will start at the end of April.

It was wonderful seeing nearly 40 ladies at Popstroke for our year end party. Even though the evening was a bit chilly, you kept it fun, festive, and full of great energy. The food was spectacular and the venue has something for everyone from 2 mini-golf courses to beach volleyball and pickleball courts, a firepit and a soccer field. We know some of you came a long way to spend time with us and it was wonderful to see you. And to those who couldn’t make it—we missed you and hope to see you at the next event!

What a spooktacular day on the course! Our “Halloween on the Green” Trick-or-Treat Golf Event brought together 36 amazing players across 9 exceptionally dressed teams, and wow — you all impressed! From creative costumes to contagious laughter, the spirit of fun was alive and well.

We’re thrilled to hear the format was a crowd favorite, even if Hole 12 — “Bunker Buster” — haunted us all. It was wonderful seeing new members join in and reconnecting with some of our long-missed friends.

We had an amazing time at our annual Stay and Play weekend at Horseshoe Bay Resort. We were the first groups off the tee both mornings which gave us plenty of time to enjoy homemade tarts by the pools in the afternoon. There's nothing like feeling you are the only people on a beautiful, lush golf course! We had a fabulous sunset meal in town the first evening and a great boat tour of the lake on the second evening. There was casual time spent hanging out in the room snacking on a fabulous buffet and playing a hilarious game of Pictionary afterwards. Best quote of the trip "I'm looking at the card and I still don't know what you're drawing" 🤣

A handful of enthusiastic ladies gathered at Jimmy Clay on June 3^rd for the Rules Clinic Part 2. Led by Steve Hammond, the hands-on session covered common relief scenarios such as cart paths, ground under repair, trees, red and yellow hazards, and more. Steve provided an overview and demonstration of the rules and then members got practice taking relief on their own. The evening wrapped up with a lively Q&A session full of great questions and discussion. Members who did not attend Part 1 received a copy of a rules card book for their bags. 

Lone Star Cup, 2025 was held at Rockwood Golf Club hosted by the Forth Worth chapter.  This year the Albuquerque, New Mexico Chapter returned after a two year absence to play.  

We had some new team members who had never played the Lone Star Cup before, and they got to experience what it is like playing and competing in  match play. Shout out to Liz Lee, Terri Thomas and Co-captain Micaela Uriegas. 

Thank you to our alternate Julia Alaniz-Karnezis from Houston who had to play for us on the second day as Laurie Ben had some hip pain after the first day and didn't feel she could continue. Julia knocked it out of the park for us, winning her singles match.

This was my fourth year playing for the Austin LPGA Amateurs chapter and I had a lovely experience playing against all kinds of different people. Even though we didn’t win we had fun and enjoyed the game of golf at a competitive level.  It is a great way to build your circle of friends with lovely friendly golfers.

The winner this year was Houston; 2^nd place was Forth Worth and 3^rd place was Baton Rouge.  Congratulations to the top 3 teams and see you all in New Mexico (hopefully) in 2026.
