The Wine Country Chapter Reception at Windsor Golf Club, July 12, 2019
  • LPGA Amateur Association Championship

San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Local Qualifier

On June 22, our Chapter competed at Poppy Ridge to send representatives on to the next round of competition at Sectionals, which will be July 13 at Windsor Golf Club in Sonoma.

It was a beautiful day - a little windy, but that kept it from being too hot. We had competition in three flights and one scramble team.

The Low Gross and Low Net score winners in each flight will advance.

In the first flight Alicia Sinclair won Low Gross with 82 and Jill Thomas won Low Net with a net 72.  In the second flight, Stacey Baba won Low Gross shooting 89 and Chris Lee won Low Net with a net 72. The third flight is sending two new members on to Sectionals:  Gloria Landry with Low Gross 105 and Michele Wheeler with Low Net of net 72.

Also advancing is the Scramble Team captained by Laurie Smith includes Georgianne Stephen, Alex Breitman and Maureen Murray.

Let’s all wish our winners good luck at Windsor and cheer for them to advance to the national Championship at Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage in October.

  • Just in from the California Cup 2019 tournament this past weekend, May 4-5 at Haggin Oaks in Sacramento - our chapter team competed in fourball, foursomes (alternate shot) and individual matches and placed in a tie for 6th place. Many of the matches went down to the last hole, so we were not far from being higher up in the rankings. Fresno repeated as the ultimate winner. Captain Alicia Sinclair led our team and was proud of the outcome. The team of 12 included Alicia, Kristen Glenchur, Stacey Baba, Becky Wynkoop, Becky Newhouse, Angie Um, Julie McEntee, Judy Madden, Jean Gorman, Jeanne Schow, Wendy Seagraves and Gloria Landry. Way to go ladies! Next year's Cal Cup will be in the San Diego area April 26-28.
