  • East Goes for the THREE-PEAT - Defends Course Challenge Title
A beautiful weather day was on tap for the 2020 Course Challenge at Painesville Country Club on 7-25-20 – we had a great showing of 31 golfers. The golfers from the “East” courses (Berkshire, Grantwood, Pine Ridge) grabbed the Course Challenge title. The East team consisted of Judy Anderson, Elsa Arriola, Donna Byrnes, Clare Labaj, Terri Lanzara, Deanne Lewis, Babs Liber, Olga Merela, Helen Oshaben, Donna Schreiber, Ann Shamess, Wendy Shick, Deb Solyan and Kate Vezdos.

The format for play was two-person teams. The first 9 holes was best ball format in which both players played their own ball and used the lower score. The second 9 holes was a scramble. After play on the course, the golfers had a putting contest from 10 ft, 20 ft and 30 ft.

The East golfers pulled out the win by having the top 3 of the 6 low net scores of the day. For the golf portion, Terri Lanzara and Ann Shamess won low net with an excellent score of 58. Elsa Arriola-Donna Schreiber carded a 59 and Wendy Shick-Clare Labaj finished with 60. In the putting contest, East finished 2-3-4 with Wendy Shick, Elsa Arriola and Donna Schreiber performing the best for the East. Each of the member of the East team received a $10 card from Dick’s.

    Other award winners were:
Clare Labaj and Wendy Shick – low gross team with 67.
Terri Lanzara and Ann Shamess – low net team with 58.
