Chapter Education
The vision to unify the six different handicap systems in use around the world into a single World Handicap System required the commitment of, and collaboration between, many organizations. All of the following organizations have provided their support to this important initiative and played their part in establishing the key principles, which shaped the proposals and drove forward the initiative to the point where a new World Handicap System can be introduced to the golfing world in 2020.

TBD - The Highway Series- Chapman or Pinehurst Format
Registration Fee: $90 per player (first-come, first-served basis 20 Max Players)
1000 Champions Drive, Daytona Beach, FL 32124

Definition: This 2‐person team competition format is named after Dick Chapman, a
great amateur golfer who played The Masters 17 consecutive years. He "invented" the
game at Pinehurst Resort, hence it is alternately called Chapman or Pinehurst.

In the Chapman Pinehurst System, both players on the same team, tee off, then they
switch balls. Player A plays Player B's drive, and vice‐versa. Each player hits his or her
second shot. They then select the better of the second shots, and from that point until the
ball is holed they play only one ball in an alternate shot1 format. Got it?

USGA Description: Chapman or Pinehurst Format:

Allowance:
The partner with the lower Course Handicap receives 60 percent of Course
Handicap. The partner with the higher Course Handicap receives 40 percent of Course
Handicap. The side with the higher Course Handicap receives the difference between the
Course Handicap of the each side. The lower-handicapped side plays from scratch.

Example: Side A-B is comprised of Player A with a Course Handicap of 5 and Player B
with a Course Handicap of 10. Player A (5 x 60% = 3) + Player B (10 x 40% = 4) = 7
strokes for side A-B (3 + 4 = 7). Side C-D is comprised of Player C with a Course
Handicap of 14 and Player D with a Course Handicap of 17. Player C (14 x 60% = 8.4
rounded to 8) + Player D (17 x 40% = 6.8 rounded to 7) = 15.

Side A-B plays at scratch and Side C-D receives one stroke per hole on the first 8 allocated handicap-stroke holes.
