A message from our Chapter President:
Welcome to a new year and a new season of the LPGA Amateurs – Central NJ Chapter. Although I am a person who enjoys winter sports...I am looking forward to less snow on the ground and warmer temperatures in the days to come.
Last year we had to postpone our Tee- Off indefinitely due to NJ restrictions around indoor dining and our need to keep our members safe. This year we are bringing this session to you virtually, so pour yourself a mimosa or Bloody Mary while we take you through our plans for 2021.
I’m not sure a year ago anyone thought we’d still be dealing with COVID. We had an interesting season in 2020 but we’ve learned a lot and, although we will still need to keep our guard up, we should have a more normal schedule in 2021.
For example - last year our leagues started late because of COVID, and we didn’t have our first outing until the middle of June. This year we are planning to start our leagues in April, and we’ll have our first outing in late April. The past year has shown us how to play golf and stay safe while enjoying the outdoors. We will still be following COVID guidelines as we progress through this season, these will determine whether we are able to gather informally after our round for 19th hole activities.
New in 2021 - we have a new joint outing - we will play with our Philly chapter friends at Heron Glen in June. Last year we had an outing with them and had a great time, so we made it formal in 2021. In addition, CNJ is working with 6 other chapters in the tri-state area on a single day scramble event in the latter part of the season. More details to come on this event when it’s available.
We have a few new locations for events this year plus an old favorite with outings planned for Hopewell Valley, High Bridge, and Makefield Highlands. Hopewell Valley will be our location for our Play for Pink outing.
In terms of leagues, the Cranbury Tuesday league expands to 2 tee times on Tuesday - a mid-afternoon time to accommodate those who can play during the day, and one to accommodate those of us who are still working. The newest NJ chapter, Coastal NJ, will have leagues in Monmouth and Ocean counties so if those work for you, please check out their website for guidelines on registering. Please note you must be a current member of the chapter to register for leagues.
As a member, take advantage of discounts that are offered through our national office from national and regional retailers – you have free admission to any LPGA professional events as well. There are 2 tournaments in NJ this year - the Shoprite Classic outside of Atlantic City, and the Founders Cup in West Caldwell. The national website, www.lpgaamateurs.com, is the place to find details on our member benefits.
Volunteers are what make this organization successful. We welcome members who want to help keep our chapter running. Events, Communications, Memberships – all 3 of these areas could use additional help. Please select the volunteer signup link below for information on signing up to assist.
Here’s to a fun and healthy golf season!

The water, surrounding wetlands and mile-long twisting burn create an intriguing setting. Across the water are breathtaking views of the Philadelphia skyline.
