Guide to 2024 Events and Competitions by Stacey Hayashi

For 2024, our calendar will continue to be filled with a variety of San Diego’s best golf courses & a variety of events for all levels of golfers. We encourage all of our members to come out and join us. If you are new, we will pair you with some Chapter veterans to ensure you feel comfortable, have fun, and meet new members.

Weekday Events – We host one-weekday event per month at various golf courses, including some moderately priced golf courses. These events usually occur on Monday or Wednesday so as not to conflict with local women’s club play days.

Weekend Events – We typically host two-weekend events per month. This could include one of our Signature events.  These events usually take place on Sundays due to limited tee times, slower pace of play, and higher greens fees on Saturdays.

Signature Events – Our most popular events!  These events are always fun.  They usually include some theme or competition and end with a 19th hole with food to mix ‘and mingle, eat, and enjoy a beverage after golf.

  • New Year’s Day – This event kicks off the New Year with fun golf and hosted food.
  • Super Bowl – Sunday, February 12 – Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf. Wear your favorite NFL team colors or jersey, and get ready for a fun competition!
  • Member Guest Events – Sunday, March 3 – Singing Hills Golf Club at Sycuan. We host two member-guest events every year. Bring a guest that we hope will want to join our Chapter after playing a day of golf with us!   The second member-guest event will take place in the Fall.  These events are always fun and include a 19th-hole nibble.
  • Aloha Ball – Sunday, August 18 - Encinitas Ranch Golf Course.  Dress in Hawaiian attire; hopefully, your group will not lose the “Aloha Ball!”
  • Devilish Duel, better known as “666” – Sunday, October 27 - Mt. Woodson Golf Club. This is one of our most popular partner events. Come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume and play a fun format of 6 holes of best ball, 6 holes of scramble, and 6 holes of alternate shot. Enjoy a 19th-hole lunch and our Halloween costume contest.  If you don’t have a partner, we will find one for you.
  • Turkey Ball – Sunday, November 24 - Steele Canyon Golf Course. This event kicks off with our cornucopia putting contest, then off to play a fun game followed by hosted food.
  • Holiday Event – Sunday, December 1 - Singing Hills Golf Club at Sycuan. To celebrate our year, come dressed in holiday golf attire, and you can bring a guest to play our infamous Ornament game, followed by our festive holiday luncheon to close the year.

    Competitions

  • Double Trouble – Sunday, March 24 - Enagic Golf Club at Eastlake. This partner event plays 9 holes of best ball followed by 9 holes of alternate shot. It was very popular last year. If you don’t have a partner, we will find one for you.

  • Chapter Championship a/k/a “the CHA CHA “– June 3 & 4 – Singing Hills Golf Club at Sycuan.  Presented by Vessel, this is our Chapter’s premiere competition event played over two consecutive days, resulting in the crowning of our two Chapter Championships.
  • The Big Scramble – Sunday, June 23 - The Golf Club of California. This is a fun foursome scramble competition – You can choose your team, or we will find one for you.
  • The Eclectic – Sunday, September 22 & Sunday, September 28 - Twin Oaks Golf Course.  This is a partner event where your twosome team has an opportunity to improve your net score from the first Sunday to the next Sunday. It’s an early shotgun start each day, followed by an awards luncheon on September 28.  If you don’t have a partner, we will find one for you.  Both partners should play on both days to increase your team’s chances of winning.
  • NEW EVENT for 2024: Hello, High Low! – The date and golf course are TBD.  For this event, we will pair players with a low-index player partnered with a higher-index player. The twosome will participate in a Best Ball format to score the LOWEST net score.
