Guide to 2023 Events and Competitions by Stacey Hayashi

For this year, one thing you can count on is that our calendar will continue to be filled with a variety of events for all levels of golfers.

  • Weekend Events – We play these events at various golf courses throughout San Diego. We typically play 2-weekend events per month. Most are played on Sunday because of availability, price, and pace of play.
  • Weekday Events -We play these events once a month. These events are usually played on Mondays because many members have club play on T/W/Th.
  • Signature Events – These are our most popular events as they all have a theme and provide a lot of fun, social interaction, and competition.
  • Super Bowl Sunday – RBI, February 12 – Wear your favorite team gear or colors & play a fun foursome game
  • Aloha Ball – Encinitas Ranch, August 20 – Wear your Hawaiian shirts & don’t lose your group’s Aloha Ball
  • Devilish Duel or better known as “666” – Mt. Woodson, October 29.  This is a fun Halloween “dress up” partner event where duos play 6 holes of better ball, 6 holes of scramble & 6 holes of alternate shot. If you don’t have a partner, we can pair you up.
  • Turkey Ball – Steele Canyon, November 19. Gobble ‘til you wobble, starting with our cornucopia putting contest.
  • Holiday Event – Singing Hills, December 3. This is our wrap-up for the year. It is a fun celebration celebrating the holiday season. This is our largest attended event (includes guests), where we play a fun game & conclude with a holiday luncheon with awards and recognition
  • Chapter Championship a/k/a the CHA CHA – The Crossings, June 3 & 4.  This is our premiere Chapter event played over two consecutive days resulting in the crowning of our two Chapter Champions – One champion is low gross over the field, the second Champion is low net over the field. The event is followed by an awards luncheon to recognize our flight winners and champions.
  • The Eclectic – Twin Oaks, July 23 & 30. This partner event takes place over two consecutive Sundays. On the second Sunday, your duo has the opportunity to improve your net score from the first Sunday.  It’s an early start on both days followed by an awards luncheon on the 30th. You must be able to play both Sundays. If you don’t have a partner, we can find one for you.

This year, both our Chapter and LPGA AMS Corporate will be adding new events to the calendar.

  • Double Trouble – Enagic Golf Club at Eastlake, March 26. Partner event – 9 holes of best ball, 9 holes alternate shot. If you don’t have a partner, we can find one for you.
  • Four Score – Team competition will run from February 20 – August 21. You can choose your team, or we will find one for you. Team members will play in as many eligible events as they want, and the (4) lowest net scores from each team member during the designated dates will count towards a combined team total.
  • The Big Scramble – Golf Club of California, May 7. This is a foursome scramble with a twist. You can choose your team, or we can find one for you.
  • LPGA AMS Team Championship – World Golf Village, Florida, June 23 & 24 – This is a partner event – Two days of better ball & alternate shot.
  • The weekly eBlast that you receive on Tuesday morning from our Chapter lists events that are open for registration and provides important Save the Dates and information about when events will open for registration. Some events are extremely popular and often fill up in the same day. If you have any questions about events, please contact Stacey Hayashi at
