The February LPGA Amateurs Milwaukee Chapter newsletter is packed with ways to stay connected and get ready for the 2026 golf season. Highlights include details on the Milwaukee Golf Show (March 13–15), where members can stop by the Chapter booth, purchase tickets that support the Chapter, and volunteer to help throughout the weekend. The newsletter also encourages members to renew their 2026 membership and take part in the Member Get a Member program, which offers fun rewards for inviting friends to join and helping grow our community.

Looking ahead, the Board is introducing new opportunities to connect beyond the course, including casual after-work networking events hosted by member-owned businesses. A full lineup of upcoming simulator events, key spring dates, and season milestones is also shared, giving members plenty of chances to play, meet fellow golfers, and stay involved all year long.

The LPGA Amateurs Milwaukee Chapter is kicking off 2026 with excitement and momentum. Incoming President Diane Welhouse shares her appreciation for the dedicated volunteers who power one of the nation’s largest chapters, now celebrating 26 years with 325 members, nearly 20 leagues, and a full calendar of events. The Board is focused on building on this strong foundation by refining programs, introducing new opportunities, and continuing to grow connections, friendships, and enjoyment of the game. Members are encouraged to share ideas, get involved, and help shape the future of the Chapter.

The newsletter also highlights important season updates, including membership renewal and the Member Get a Member program, upcoming events like the Milwaukee Golf Show (March 13–15) and Spring Kickoff (March 28), volunteer opportunities, and key dates leading into league sign-ups and the season opener. With another great year of golf ahead, members are encouraged to stay connected through the website and social channels.

March 20, 2025 is the first day of Spring this year and it also is our chapter’s official 25^th anniversary! 

Our LPGA Amateurs Milwaukee Chapter’s story:

In September of 1999, eight women met in a meeting room at Songbird Hill Golf Club in Hartland, Wisconsin to discuss forming an organized women's golf chapter. On Feb. 23, 2000, six of those eight women formally petitioned for formal chapter affiliation with the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA). They were Hollis Kerler (now Sutherland), Patricia Hintz, Connie Austin, Carla Hammond, Andee Miller and Nancy Nell. LPGA Amateurs sent over a document on file from March 6, 2000, and it was officially filed with the state on March 20, 2000.  According to a speech made by Hollis Kerler in 2008, “membership bloomed to 83 members by the end of 2000.”

The chapter hit a record high of 427 members in 2007 that catapulted it into the 5th largest Chapter in the Association.

EWGA officially became LPGA Amateurs in 2019. The rebranding was part of a strategic move to align more closely with the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association), which had been a partner of the organization for many years. The goal was to create a more unified and recognizable brand while continuing to support women in golf at all levels.

We are now the largest chapter in Wisconsin and in the Midwest at 314 members as of Dec. 31, 2024. There are only seven national LPGA Amateurs chapters with 300+ members and Milwaukee ranks sixth!

Sixty-three LPGA Amateurs Milwaukee Chapter members attended the Fall Celebration and Annual Meeting Oct. 24 at New Berlin Hills Golf Course. Chapter leaders provided business updates, thanked sponsors, welcomed new members, outgoing and incoming board members and celebrated volunteers. Among those volunteers was outgoing Golf Leagues Director, Avery Mayne, who was named Volunteer of the Year. Thank you to Avery for her service to our Chapter! Avery has been the leagues director since 2021 and on the board since 2019. In 2029-2020, she was the membership chair/director. Our LPGA Amateurs Milwaukee Chapter’s story:

• EWGA was founded by Nancy Oliver in 1991 and was one of the largest women's amateur golf associations in the United States.
• On March 27, 2018, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) announced EWGA officially joined the LPGA family and was rebranded as 'LPGA Women Who Play.' 

We are the largest chapter in Wisconsin and in the Midwest at 314 members as of Dec. 31, 2024. There are only seven national LPGA Amateurs chapters with 300+ members and Milwaukee ranks sixth! 

We are thrilled to share LPGA Amateurs Milwaukee Chapter has reached our goal and have 53 volunteers signed up to be Hole Marshalls for the U.S. Women's Open May 29-June 1 at Erin Hills! Our Chapter can marshal any hole, including a par 5. Thank you to chapter members Traci Griffin and MaryBeth Buechel for leading this effort!
