Ai-Hwei YangThe Ai-Hwei Yang Spirit Award

About the Award

Ai-Hwei Yang was one of our most active members, was passionate about golf and LPGA Amateur Association.  She unselfishly gave her knowledge, time, advice and friendship to the members of the Triangle NC Chapter and truly embodied the spirit in which our Chapter was created.

When Ai-Hwei passed in 2016, a group of members and the Board of Directors decided to keep that spirit and enthusiasm alive by acknowledging each year one member of the LPGA Amateur Association - Triangle NC Chapter who, throughout the year, embodied that spirit, enthusiasm and fellowship.

Please consider nominating a fellow member or even yourself.  We want to recognize an individual who in the past year demonstrated many of the following of Ai-Hwei’s characteristics:

  • Participation in a variety of LPGA Amateurs events and activities
  • Creation of a warm and welcoming culture of positivity within our Chapter
  • Encouragement to develop new friends, professional contacts and to foster friendships and fellowship
  • Enthusiasm for the game and the women of LPGA Amateurs
  • Volunteerism within the Chapter, officially and/or unofficially
  • Authenticity in actions and a sharing in a passion for golf with others
  • Mentorship for members to become the best golfers they could be
  • An affinity for helping others both on and off the course

Nominators should submit the characteristics demonstrated from the list above and describe the actions and rationale that make her/his nominee deserving of this prestigious award.   Any additional information that may assist the Chapter in making the selection may also be added to the form.  Self nominations are also permitted.

Nominations begin in mid-October.  All nominations will be submitted to the full membership for voting starting mid November . The President of the Chapter will present the award at the Annual Year End Dinner.

Our Mission

To provide opportunities for women to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf for business and for life.

The LPGA AMATEUR GOLF ASSOCIATION, formerly known as Executive Women's Golf Association was founded in 1991 by a group of 28 women in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Since then it has become the largest women’s golf organization in the world with over 20,000 members in the US and Canada

Our chapter is located in and around Research Triangle Park. Golfers of all skill levels come from Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Pinehurst and surrounding areas in the heart of North Carolina.

Whether you are a new golfer looking for a welcoming environment to learn the game, or an accomplished player seeking the challenges of our Association championship series, we are here to meet your needs.

Our activities include weeknight 9-hole leagues, weekend 18-hole outings, championship competition, golf clinics, etiquette seminars, and other social events. You'll find a friendly, inclusive environment for networking with other (with other women from all walks of life)  businesswomen.

Whether you're looking for an occasional round of informal golf, or a chance to play regularly with other avid golfers, we are here!

Sponsor Offerings

Several of our sponsors, offer clinics, classes and events throughout the year to our membership. Those events are often fully booked and staffed accordingly. therefor  no-shows and late cancellations reflect very poorly on our chapter.
Unless there’s an emergency situation, please cancel your enrollment 24 hours prior to any clinic or lesson or event with any of our sponsors. So that they can staff appropriately. Otherwise they may be forced to implement a pre-pay policy.
Thanks for your respect and support for all our sponsors!

Sponsorships and Donations
Are you part of a company who wants access to a group of strong, decisive women who make the majority of buying decisions for their families?
Do you or your friends have businesses who need exposure to women and men who spend on a variety of goods and services?
If so, please approach them to consider becoming a sponsor for our chapter, and/or donating an item for the silent auction or raffle at our annual kickoff.  A good part of our Chapter budget comes from sponsorship fees and proceeds of our kickoff fundraisers.
Sponsorship details, including benefits and costs, can be found HERE
Contact or PRESIDENT or our GOLF EVENTS DIRECTOR if you have a kickoff donation or a potential sponsorship opportunity.

Guests Welcome
Guests are welcome and encouraged for all chapter golf and social events, except for our local, sectional and national tournaments or as otherwise noted in the event invitation. Men are welcome, too!
You may invite the same person only twice in a calendar year (Jan-Dec); after that we hope they will see how wonderful the group is and join. Men can join our organization as well, but cannot play in official LPGA Amateur tournaments.

9 After 5

Lonnie Poole
We are excited to offer a new 9 after 5 program this year at Lonnie Poole Golf Course located in Raleigh, right off of I40 on the beautiful Centennial Campus of NC State University.

Play will take place on Tuesday nights beginning at 5:30pm.
Cost will be $25 per person, including a cart. Range balls are extra.
Details on how to sign up will be announced in the April newsletter, chapter website and chapter Facebook page.

We hope that this will again be a popular night event.

What if you live in Durham/Chapel Hill?
Afternoon traffic makes travel to Raleigh very difficult.  We would love to have a 9 after 5 program in the Chapel Hill/Durham area as well, but would need a volunteer who would attend a majority of the outings to take the lead.  If someone would be willing to be the host of a Durham/Chapel Hill 9 after 5 program, please contact the Communications Director we will work with you to set up a host club and tee times.
